Text format cleaner
Text copied from PDFs, messages or websites may contain awkward spacing, broken sentences or repeated passages. Safe spacing options are enabled by default. Joining lines and removing repetitions are separate choices because layout can carry meaning.
Useful for
- Tidy text copied from a PDF
- Remove accidentally pasted adjacent repetitions
- Prepare an email, post or working note
How to use it
- Paste the original and choose the cleanup options
- Run the cleaner and review the change counts
- Compare with the original, especially lists, addresses and paragraph breaks
Singapore example: Tidying a community notice
With space cleanup enabled, 新 加 坡 社 区 活 动 becomes 新加坡社区活动. Check dates, meeting points and registration links separately.
Keep the normal space in Jurong East. Process name lists and addresses carefully rather than joining every line.
Things to check
- Line joining and repetition removal are off by default
- Common lists and structured fields retain their line breaks
- Normal spaces between English words are preserved
- Avoid line joining for poetry or tables
Frequently asked questions
Can it remove spaces between Chinese characters?
Yes. Unnecessary spaces between Chinese characters and punctuation can be removed.
How are broken lines detected?
The optional repair joins neighbouring lines when they do not look like a completed sentence, list or structured field. Blank lines remain paragraph boundaries.
Could repetition removal delete useful text?
Only adjacent identical material is targeted. Disable it for intentional repetitions or special layouts.
Can I use just one option?
Yes. Each cleanup option can be switched on or off independently.
