How small should an email or form image be?

Work from the actual upload limit and required clarity rather than a fixed compression percentage.

Read the limit carefully

A form may limit each attachment or the combined total. These are different constraints. Also check accepted formats and whether the requirement says smaller than a limit or no larger than it.

Choose a target with some margin

If a fictional form requires less than 1MB per image, try 500KB or a custom 800KB target. These are examples, not Singapore-wide rules. The tool uses 1024KB for 1MB; the receiving system may count differently.

Inspect rather than assume

After compression, reopen the download and check names, numbers and small print. If it is unreadable, work from the original and raise the target where the receiving limit allows. Pixel dimensions may be reduced if quality adjustment is insufficient.

Check all attachments together

Several compliant images can still exceed a total attachment limit. Add their sizes and inspect the completed PDF if you combine them. This image tool does not compress an existing PDF.

When no change is needed

If the original is already below the limit and clear, further compression may add no value. Keep the original and send only the version you have checked.
