Image resizer

Resize an image by its pixel dimensions. Leaving one dimension blank preserves the original aspect ratio. Entering both dimensions stretches the image to fit; it does not crop or add new detail.

Useful for

  • Resize an image for a website
  • Prepare consistently sized document illustrations
  • Set a suitable width for email or an article

How to use it

  1. Choose an image and enter a width or height
  2. Leave the other dimension blank to keep proportions
  3. Inspect the output dimensions and file size before downloading

Singapore example: Preparing a community webpage image

For a 1200 by 800 image, enter a width of 600 and leave height blank. The proportional result is 600 by 400 pixels.

If the space requires 600 by 350, crop the composition using another editor first. Entering both values here stretches rather than crops.

Things to check

  • Enlarging does not recover missing detail
  • Entering an incompatible width and height stretches the image
  • Pixel dimensions and file size are different
  • Resize first, then compress if you also need a smaller file

Frequently asked questions

Can I leave height blank?

Yes. Height is calculated from the original proportions.

Why does the image look stretched?

Both dimensions were entered with a different ratio from the original.

What is the maximum dimension?

Each side must be between 1 and 12000 pixels. Large images may still exceed device memory.

What if the file is still too large?

Use the image compressor after resizing to set a KB or MB target.
